Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) initiated the implementation of Digitally-Enabled English Proficiency (DEEP) as a forward-thinking program that aims to boost the English language proficiency of its student body, faculty, and staff members. DSSC launched the DEEP program in response to 2023-2024 academic year research revealing Intermediate English Proficiency levels among honor students. The DEEP program integrates the AI-powered application Neo+, a digital innovation in teaching the English language using an AI-driven English learning solution that combines online self-study with one-on-one coaching to meet learners' English fluency goals. The DEEP program also provides certification aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), with learners earning a certificate after completing a series of Mastery tests. Numerous countries and different industries have used Neo+ successfully to deliver a complete curriculum that meets learners' proficiency needs at every level. Through this blended learning system, DSSC intends to provide beneficiaries with improved access to an English language experience that engages while delivering superior learning results. The educational program adopts an inclusive design that integrates gender perspectives and provides equal access to learning opportunities for all students regardless of gender identity. The DEEP program will fulfill functions for the BSEd-English program, Advanced Language Curriculum Development for graduate students, and as a speech lab space serving undergraduate students in general education Purposive Communication courses. DSSC pursues this multi-method approach to build a population with the language skills necessary for prospering in a global world. Dr. Siverlyn M. Camposano will lead DEEP as the Vice President for Academic Affairs throughout its one-year operation from October 2024 until October 2025 with its Php 896,700.00 budget. The initiative demonstrates DSSC's commitment to link educational practices with national and worldwide standards established by Presidential Executive Order No. 210 and the 1987 Philippine Constitution. The DEEP initiative will connect linguistic barriers while delivering skills to learners so DSSC's students and staff can access international market opportunities that enhance global competitiveness. |
