DSSC-RDI inks MOA with the
Department of Agriculture

Research, Development, and Innovation Director, Dr. Mark Jude F. Trondillo, recently led Davao del Sur State College at a significant Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing at the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR), Diliman, Quezon City.
The MOA, signed on November 14, 2023, is a collaboration between the Department of Agriculture, represented by Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban, and DSSC.
The college secured a 5 million project grant from the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund’s Research for Development Component for the Upgrading of the DSSC Agricultural Laboratory and Agricultural Processing Facilities project – with Dr. Trondillo as the project leader and Dr. Augie Fuentes as co-project leader.
This funding is earmarked for enhancing the infrastructure of DSSC's seaweed laboratory and processing center, a move that aims at boosting capacity and efficiency in producing value-added agricultural products. The initiative specifically targets supporting crop production in the Davao Region.
The event drew notable figures, including DA Undersecretary for Administration and ACEF Program Management Committee (ACEF PMC) Vice-chairperson, Atty. Jane C. Bacayo; Bureau of Agricultural Research Director Junel B. Soriano; DA-Agricultural Credit Policy Council Deputy Executive Director and ACEF-PMC member, Maria Cristina Lopez; Project leaders; ACEF-PMC representatives; and DA-BAR officials added their signatures to seal the collaboration.
