A collaboration between Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) and the Local Government Unit of Sta. Cruz, formalized via a Memorandum of Agreement in August 2023. Intended to broaden tertiary education access within the municipality and nearby areas. |

DSSC is a public higher education institution in Davao del Sur, Mindanao, Philippines. The extension campus in Santa Cruz is part of the college's effort to expand educational opportunities and cater to students in the Santa Cruz area and nearby regions. The campus likely offers various undergraduate programs, often focusing on courses aligned with regional economic needs.

LOCATION & FACILITIES

• Situated on Ciriaco Godoy Street, near the old Municipal Hall—site of the initial ocular inspection.
• Initial setup involves repurposing municipal hall facilities, with three classrooms plus planned use of senior high school rooms for night classes.
• Designed to accommodate 160 students across four program streams (40 per cohort).

• Entrance exams for residents were held in May 2023, with admissions strictly capped at 40 students per program .
• Classes commenced on August 14, 2023, with approximately 150 pioneer students .

• Led by DSSC President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, along with Vice Presidents and its Campus Administrator.
• The campus follows DSSC’s administrative model, overseen by its Board of Trustees, which also approves further extension projects .

• Students will have access to DSSC’s Learning Resource Center, a modern two-story facility with open-shelf access enhanced by online systems.
• The main campus and other extension campuses emphasize research and community-extension collaborations, which Sta. Cruz is expected to follow.

• Sta. Cruz sees the campus as its first dedicated local tertiary institution, a “non‑negotiable” project for LGU.
• Entrance caps ensure quality and sustainability; future plans may include expanding facilities if demand rises.
• DSSC’s long‑term agenda includes introduction of graduate degrees and expansion to other municipalities.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The Davao del Sur State College Agri-business Major in Entrepreneurship Management students and alumni will be able to manifest the following:
A. Exhibit knowledge of legal and ethical environment influencing agricultural-business organization and shows and shows an understanding and appreciation of the ethical implications of decisions;
B. Appreciate the importance of globalizations and diversity in the modern agriculture business organizations;
C. Develop and apply analytical skills to analyze the current issues occurring in agri-business that may affect the industry in the future;
D. Effectively evaluate the effect of trade policy, common, markets, trading blocks, market instability, commodity problems, trade agreements and environmental regulation on imports and exports in the international trade;
E. Boost social protection programs and help small scale farmers to increase food production; and
F. Recognize that women and men have equal access and control over resources, development benefits and decision-making at all stages of the development process.

The DSSC Campus Public Administration Program (BPA) alumni after three to five (3-5) years will:

To create an environmentally sustainable, resource-efficient, and climate-resilient campus that fosters a culture of ecological responsibility among students, staff, and the wider community.

Waste Reduction and Management
• Implement waste segregation bins across campus (biodegradable, non-biodegradable, recyclable).
• Launch a Zero Single-Use Plastics policy.

Energy Efficiency and Conservation

GOAL
The DSSC Santa Cruz Extension shall provide relevant and quality education in the fields of business, accounting and public governance by offering courses relevant to the changing business environment, strong public service orientation and ethical foundation to produce responsible and competent professionals endowed with aspirations indispensable to contribute to local, national and global development.
OBJECTIVES
1. Afford students with competitive academic programs through innovative and relevant instructions and training programs that are competent to help them prepare for professions in business, accounting, and public administrations;
2.Provide a holistic learning experience that will prepare the students in engaging life-long opportunities;
3.Conduct and publish research that responds to the needs of the society, contributes to the practice of the profession
4.To commit to the development of resilient and sustainable communities by undertaking researched based extension programs in business, accounting, and public administration; and
5.To establish and strengthen institutional linkages supporting instructions, research, extension and production functions through local, national and global networks.
