The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) headed by Dr. Siverlyn M. Camposano together with Dr. Amelie E. Trinidad, the Director for Instruction at Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) serves as the twin pillars upholding the institution's commitment to academic excellence. The VPAA, a pivotal administrative figure, provides comprehensive leadership for all academic endeavors, from shaping curriculum to nurturing faculty. This includes developing and recommending policies for instruction and faculty growth, overseeing all academic units, and ensuring the highest standards of quality through program assessment and accreditation.
The VPAA act as the primary representative for academic matters within the college and beyond. Complementing the VPAA's broad oversight, the Director for Instruction (DI) ensures the practical delivery of quality education in the college. This role is dedicated to the effective implementation, continuous monitoring, and thorough evaluation of all instructional programs. The office ensures that the college's curriculum is delivered efficiently, champions innovative teaching methods, and collaborates with academic deans to monitor faculty instructional performance.
Additionally, the DI Office manages class scheduling and instructional resources, providing vital reports on teaching quality in the college. Bridging Education and Employment: DSSC Empowers Graduating Students with Employment-Readiness Seminar
As part of its commitment to holistic student development, Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) conducted an impactful Employment-Readiness Seminar on May 16, 2025, at the DSSC Gymnasium, aimed at equipping graduating students with essential knowledge and skills to successfully transition from academic life to the professional world.
Spearheaded by the Director for Instruction, in partnership with the Student Affairs Services and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the activity provided a timely intervention to address the practical, legal, and ethical aspects of employment that many new graduates face.
As students prepare to enter the labor market, they are met with challenges such as identifying job opportunities, understanding employment laws, and protecting themselves from unlawful recruitment practices. This initiative was designed to bridge that critical gap between education and employment through a comprehensive seminar that tackled key employment-related topics.
The sessions included the Anti-Illegal Recruitment (AIR) campaign, Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS), Pre-Employment Seminar for Local Applicants (PESLA), and an orientation on the Kasambahay Law. These topics were carefully selected to empower students with the tools and knowledge necessary for job application, workplace integration, and legal protection. Through the collaboration with DOLE and other relevant labor agencies, the content delivered was accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with national labor standards. It also underscored the shared responsibility of educational institutions and government agencies in advocating for decent work, fair labor practices, and youth empowerment.
By merging academic preparation with real-world labor education, DSSC reaffirms its role not just as a provider of knowledge, but as a builder of futures—ensuring that its graduates are job-ready, informed, and empowered as they step confidently into the workforce.
