Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) joined the Convergence Initiative on Mango Production: Stakeholders Forum and Workshop on October 8, 2025, at Avenue One Hotel, Digos City, Davao del Sur.
Organized by the Department of Agriculture Region XI (DA XI) with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) and the Mango Industry Council XI, the conference forum convened provincial government representatives, industry players, and agricultural researchers to tackle future concerns and sustainable remedies to enhance mango production in the region.
Dr. Alexander M. Campaner and Prof. Marlon Lastra, represented DSSC in the discussion to determine crucial mango industry opportunities and challenges.
Dr. Campaner shared his theories and scientifically based methods to avoid issues that degrade fruit quality and yield. Prof. Lastra then discussed the importance of establishing networks of mango growers and interested parties, highlighting the fact that these networks serve as the basis for the College's future research and extension initiatives.
The project is a perfect example of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnership for the Goals, which embodies DSSC's vision for promoting sustainable agricultural development through community-based, science-informed partnerships.
By this engagement, DSSC reaffirms its commitment to enhancing collaboration between academic specialists, local government units, and industry organizations like DA XI, MinDA, and the Mango Industry Council XI.
