Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), through the initiative of Dr. Alexander M. Campaner, Assistant to the President for Special Projects, officially launched the Regenerative Agriculture and AI Cacao Project during an initial coordination meeting held on June 10–11, 2025.The initiative is a collaboration with eight cacao-producing municipalities in Davao del Sur—Bansalan, Malalag, Matanao, Padada, Magsaysay, Hagonoy, Sulop, and Kiblawan.
The project aims to boost cacao productivity by applying regenerative agriculture practices and integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) for data-driven farming. The meeting focused on aligning objectives, responsibilities, and timelines among key stakeholders.
Field surveys were conducted on July 9–10, 2025 to begin profiling local cacao farmers and gathering baseline data. It also prepares for the deployment of DSSC student interns through the Laboratory School for Agriculture (LSA) and On-the-Job Training (OJT) programs.
Both representatives will also take part in collaborative sessions aligned with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), engaging with fellow participants from across Southeast Asia to cultivate mutual understanding and shared insights.
Their participation marks another step forward in DSSC’s efforts to build international linkages and integrate global perspectives into its academic and development initiatives.
