The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) was thrilled to host local and foreign delegates for the ASEAN Food Conference (AFC) 2025 Technical Tour on September 26, 2025. The tour included stops at the Davao del Sur State College’s Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) & Museum and the Cacao Isotope Center.
The Philippine Association of Food Technologists (PAFT), Inc., the Department of Science and Technology XI, and PAFT-Mindanao, Inc. worked together to host the ASEAN Food Conference 2025. People from the academic, government, and business sectors across Southeast Asia came to the event. As one of the culminating activities of the festival, the Technical Tour intended to exhibit the Davao Region’s food innovation hubs, cultural and historical institutions, and private firms that drive innovation, sustainability, and local identity.
The DSSC's RCIC & Museum and the Cacao Isotope Center were chosen as tour stops for their important contributions to research, processing, and preserving the culture of coffee and cacao. Delegates learned a lot about how the region is a leader in food innovation and authenticity verification through isotope analysis. The tour also showed how DSSC helps both science and culture grow in Mindanao.
The Technical Tour had people from Bicol University, Bicol Regional Food Innovation, Pilmico Foods Corp., San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corp., DOST XI, and the University of the Philippines Mindanao in the Philippines; IAFT, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Sam Ratulangi University, and Universitas Bakrie in Indonesia; the National University of Singapore; and business partners like Trisco Foods Pty. Ltd. and Monde Nissin Corporation.
DSSC reinforced its commitment to innovation and sustainability through this engagement. It also strengthened international partnerships and proudly represented the Davao Region's contributions to cuisine, culture, and industry.
